Meditation Basics

The first thing that you can do if you just wanted to get started meditating is just find a quiet place – doesn’t have to be inside, doesn’t have to be outside – it can be wherever you feel comfortable, you don’t have to sit up straight in lotus position, you can find something to lean back upon. Be comfortable enough that you can sit there and just set a timer for 5 minutes. All it takes is 5 minutes to start your day, you don’t even have to not think. You’ll find something to think about – a specific thing, or you count. You can count your breaths, inhales and exhales. Count them, see how many times in 5 minutes that you breathe. You can on your inhale think about a specific word that you want. On your exhales you can think about a specific word that you want. You can find a mantra, which can be as simple as “I am creating a powerful life.” 5 minutes once a day is all it takes. If you want, you can make it more every single day but 5 minutes the first time is all you need.
