Here is a short FAQ if you’ve been wondering how to get involved with the Acrofit Power and Handstand classes, posted by Chris Staefe, certified Acrofit System Instructor:

A number of you expressed interest in checking out Acrofit at the Barefoot Sanctuary this week and I had a few similar questions/comment so I thought I would bulk reply and hit them all at once:

I can’t make the Tuesday class so can I come to the Saturday Level II class instead?

Sure! Level II builds off the moves in Level I. If you’ve never done Acrofit before, this class will be difficult, but not impossible. When needed, the move will be modified and tailored to your abilities.

Handstand Workshop sounds interesting but I’d never be able to do it.

In the 7 months that I’ve been doing handstand workshop, I have yet to meet a person who didn’t like it who tried it. This class is for people of all levels and within about 20 minutes, you will be doing a handstand in a very safe and supportive environment – its not nearly as impossible as it sounds!

I’m not in shape, is this class going to kill me? (paraphrasing of course!)

No. Acrofit is precision training, not bootcamp. The goal is to develop muscular control and to do the moves with high degrees of accuracy. Less is definitely more in this scenario. If you can only do 3 of a particular movement, then that is all you do. Doing a move with precision will get you in shape faster than you think. Remember, modifications can always be made to accommodate injury and ability. That goes both ways, too. If a move is too simple, then I can show you a modification to make it more difficult! :D

I’m going to have to get in shape before I can take your class.

I love this comment, and I get it more that I expect. My response is: this class will get you in shape. Usually in gyms, the focus on a specific muscle, like bicep or quads. Which, in turn, make you only good at doing that one motion. These are non watered down acrobatic conditioning movements that require the use of your whole body.  This will get you in shape quicker and more thorough… and be a heck of a lot more fun!

How much does it cost?

$12 for a drop in class
$99 for 10 class pass
$69/mo for unlimited classes – If you sign up by the end of the month, you get a 20% discount!

Acroft Level I – Tuesday 5:30pm
